WHAT IF YOU STILL WANT TO QUIT?

You know winners never quit, but SOMETHING has to change!

Things happenFew people stay at the same job forever. There tons of reason why people make changes.

  • They go as far as they can go at a certain company. Maybe they were so talented that they moved up the ladder so fast that now they will have to wait years before the person in front of them moves on, so now they are stuck…time to move on.
  • Sometimes the company changes Leadership, re-organizes departments and now your situation is not as promising or enjoyable as it once was.
  • Sometimes companies downsize and eliminate jobs. They eliminate personnel and load up responsibilities on those that stay. You may not like the increase work load.
  • Sometimes you get stagnant. You have mastered your position so well you now can do it blindfolded. You are bored and looking for a fresh new challenge with bigger opportunities.
  • Your life may have changed, gotten married, had kids and now need more income and you know it’s not going to happen where you are now.
  • Sometimes the company makes the decision for you and let’s you go.
  • The list of reasons is endless

So if you aren’t quitting, what is it?
You are changing directions! You are moving on! There’s no shame. The great thing you are doing is that you are moving on!

If there is shame it’s staying in a situation where you have lost your enthusiasm. It would be staying in a situation you hated because you were afraid to look for something better. It would be because you had given up on your dream of doing special things in your career.

It would be because you had totally lost your motivation to improve, make bigger income, or even to eventually have a business of your own.

The important thing is to keep moving up! If you have gone as far as you can at your current location, find your best next step and move on. When something is over, it’s over and you have bigger things to do with your life!

Kill Excuses

If you want to win...

Excuses are the mortal enemies of achievement.

Kill or be killed
If you really want to complete a project, win a game or do anything Great, the FIRST thing you must do is get rid of any excuse. If you don’t, in the “make or break” moment of the competition…that excuse will sneak into your head and give you exactly what you are desperately, subconsciously, looking for at that moment…
A reason to quit, to give in, to give up…and YOU LOSE!

Deal with them
  • Don’t overlook them
  • Don’t underestimate them

Excuses are your mortal enemies. You must snuff them out before you begin any project…or you’re just wasting your time.

Process to Payoff

If you want the reward you’ve got to pay the price. Anything you want in life has a process you must go through to get there.

Almost getting there doesn’t get it done.  Most failures go 98 percent of the way, lose their focus and quit.

After doing so much work, why give up before you complete your task? The treasure may be just around the corner.

You’ve got to go through the process if you want to launch a new business, get a degree, to learn a new language, to start a new career, to move to a new town, to learn a musical instrument.

Each of these things have a process you go through to make them happen. If you want it, you go through the steps.

The Good News: For most things, you don’t need a special talent

If you go through the process you can get there. All you need is to want it bad enough to go through the steps. The reason most people don’t get the things they want is not because they aren’t good enough, its because they don’t want it bad enough to finish the process. They get started, things get a little tough or confusing and they immediately jump to the conclusion that they aren’t good enough and quit. The truth is that they are more than competent—they just need to stay on track.

Here’s the point: If you start, you can get there, just finish the process!

Even Lance Armstrong Had a Gut Check

GETTING HIMSELF MENTALLY READY FOR HIS COMEBACK IN THE TOUR DE FRANCE AFTER A 4 YEAR LAYOFF...

"When I started my comeback, in all the early races I was tentative, hesitant—that was the reason for the crash—broke my collarbone. I had thoughts of using this as a reason to quit, wondering, do I really want to do this? Word of this reached the Team director, he called and made one call, said, "ARE YOU NUTS, YOU ARE NOT QUITTING! YOU'VE COME TOO FAR!" After that call, that was it, I went all in—whatever it took." —Lance Armstrong

He had spent a year getting himself physically ready for the comeback, but the mental commitment was another thing entirely. Until he got that past the issue of whether or not he was ready to give it everything he had, he wouldn't be ready.

Now we know the result.

He finished an amazing third in the 21 day race against 200 of the top elite professional road racers in the world—almost all of them 5-12 years younger than he is.

You'll never put forth the effort required to be the best unless you commit totally. It's impossible to push yourself to the maximum effort required unless you want it bad enough to go all in. Even Lance. Even a 7 time Champion.
