No One Wins Them All

Sooner or later you’re going to lose.

Shake it off move on… Some people collapse in a heap, emotionally shot, devastated.

THEY CAN’T BELIEVE IT!

What did they think? That it would never happen?

Life isn’t perfect, you will get your beatings just like everyone else.

Not only you, but your children, your family, your company.

Hey, it happens.

You’ll survive. That’s what people do. It's part of life.

Later you may even look back and see the benefits.

So when it happens…don’t fall apart. Keep your wits. Learn your lessons and plot your return.

Defeat is not permanent unless you quit

So don’t get out of whack.

You lost a battle, but you can still win the war!

What Alabama Beating LSU Means for You

Some great lessons for competing in 2012

Many were shocked when Alabama shut out LSU in BCS Championship game January 9. It wasn’t that they won but how they won. LSU was unbeaten. LSU was frighteningly talented. LSU was powerful at every position.

They had even beaten Alabama previously at Alabama. This time the game was to be played in New Orleans just down the road from Baton Rouge. It was essentially a home game for LSU.

That’s what so great about competition
It didn’t matter that the odds were in LSU’s favor. Once the game began it was all about who was going to get the job done then! None of the past mattered—beyond the fact that it put them in position to do well. For some reason, maybe it was the ferocity of the Alabama players who wanted to redeem themselves, LSU was uncharacteristically jittery as they started the game. They were stumbling, fumbling, and out of rhythm. They certainly weren’t relaxed, confident, and aggressive.

Alabama sensed their hesitation and indecision and kept the pressure on. They were so effective the unthinkable happened, LSU not only got beat, they didn’t even score! They have no moral victories to take out of the game. They didn’t end on a high note. The decision was totally in Alabama’s favor. Alabama won big!

What does that mean for you in 2012?
You can win big in 2012! You can win decisively in 2012! Things that have stood in your way in the past can be beaten. It doesn’t matter what has happened beforehand. It doesn’t matter what people think. It doesn’t matter how the odds may be stacked against you if you’re willing to compete you can still win.

Alabama’s huge win over LSU is a loud message to all of us that if we’ll fight and compete we can win in 2012.

Winners Win Anyway

You will be challenged.

In every phase of life, at every age, in every circumstance you will face challenges. It doesn’t matter if you're rich or poor, old, young, what country you come from, what faith, what background, what combination of good and bad or bad things have happened to you in your life. We all have been, and will be, facing challenges.

As soon as you solve one problem another pops up…its always something.
You are going to have things happen that aren't perfect, that mess up your world, that you have to deal with. When they come into your life they bring a question: is this the one that causes you to give up? The answer to that comes back to your attitude, your toughness and your fighting spirit.

When faced with challenges do you give in or do you fight?
Do you let them push you around or do you push them around? How much do you need to be backed up before you get your back to the wall and you come out fighting? How much does it take for you to turn on your fighting response… your “fight back” response?

Success goes to the overcomers
In life, challenges come no matter what it is you want to do. It doesn’t matter what it is… fun things, hard things, work things, hobbies, big challenges….it doesn’t matter. In anything you want to do you're going to have challenges and things are only accomplished by overcoming. Most of these are unanticipated. So when these challenges come what is your response?

Are you going to fight or are you going to give in?
It's at time of the biggest challenge that people reveal who they are; if they can be trusted, if they're resilient, if they've got the fighting spirit, if they'll hang in there or if they mean business or dead serious, if they can be counted on to lead or are they weak, they're shallow, uncommitted, looking for an excuse, ready to run, ready to fold and give up just because something went wrong.

This is when you find out how bad you really want it
Unless you make your mind up, unless you want to do something bad enough to overcome the problems you'll never get anything done. Something will always come up that will give you a reason to quit. The people who win are the people who win “anyway” or in spite of things that go wrong along the way. It doesn’t matter what goes wrong. They find a way to win “anyway.”

They've got problems or maybe more problems than anybody else, but they stand and fight and the result is… win “anyway.”

Feedback: Isn’t it amazing that there is always something standing between you and every single thing you want to do?

Process to Payoff

If you want the reward you’ve got to pay the price. Anything you want in life has a process you must go through to get there.

Almost getting there doesn’t get it done.  Most failures go 98 percent of the way, lose their focus and quit.

After doing so much work, why give up before you complete your task? The treasure may be just around the corner.

You’ve got to go through the process if you want to launch a new business, get a degree, to learn a new language, to start a new career, to move to a new town, to learn a musical instrument.

Each of these things have a process you go through to make them happen. If you want it, you go through the steps.

The Good News: For most things, you don’t need a special talent

If you go through the process you can get there. All you need is to want it bad enough to go through the steps. The reason most people don’t get the things they want is not because they aren’t good enough, its because they don’t want it bad enough to finish the process. They get started, things get a little tough or confusing and they immediately jump to the conclusion that they aren’t good enough and quit. The truth is that they are more than competent—they just need to stay on track.

Here’s the point: If you start, you can get there, just finish the process!

It Took Ronnie 3 Times

When you are going for something big remember this: You probably won’t get it on the first try.

That’s why there is even a cliché about the phenomenon. I’m sure you’ve heard, "The third time's the charm."

Its worth thinking about and reminding yourself. If you REALLY want something, don’t even bother to try unless you want it bad enough to go for it at least three solid times. You may get lucky and get it the first time but the odds are against you.

The first two times toughen you up. The teach you what you need to know. They put you in a position to KNOW what you are missing so you fill that hole.

It shows you how good your competition is because after all, you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be good enough to beat them.

Every time you try—you improve.

If you want it bad enough you’ll keep trying …no matter how many times it takes.
But always remember this… It took president Ronald Reagan three times of running for president to win and it will probably take you just as many times or more to win your prize.

The great thing about it is that when you do finally win, it won’t matter how many times it took, because you finally won and the rewards are yours for the rest of your life!
