The Lie Sandwich

If you want to do great things in your life you need to be aware of something: You have an enemy.

He wants to get you off track, to divert you, to neutralize you. But it's harder to capture you when you are alarmed, he wants you to be calm, relaxed.

So he comes at you as a snake in the grass. You won’t see him coming. You don’t notice the danger. Your defenses are down.

The Snake is Sly - He Wants to Steal Your Mind

The way this is done is very subtle. The way to neutralize someone is to get them off track with a half-truth. It's been said that when you steal a person’s mind you own them. So be careful what you believe. Make sure new ideas are true.

Lulls you to Sleep...

One big way the enemy tricks you is the Lie SandwichIt's goes like this: first they tell you something you are sure to agree with. They say several things that are true and make perfect sense-common knowledge.

These are things they know you’ll agree with. You start to get comfortable. You are liking what you hear. You are starting to like them because we generally like people we agree with. You relax.

Here Comes the Poison

Then when you're not paying close attention, he slips in a big lie in a friendly agreeable way, then quickly follows up with some other totally inoffensive, obviously true statements. The conversation is ended on common agreement and you are oblivious to the fact that you just swallowed a big old lie.

The Poison is in the Middle—Disguised

It's like a sandwich with a big slice of delicious fresh baked whole grain bread with a thin layer of sweet smelling poison covered by another slice of that delicious bread. It's aromatic! It's beautiful! It's Healthy! It tastes good! BUT IT'S POISON! Look out for yourself, don’t be tricked.

Test the Truth of Ideas Presented to You.

Don’t be a patsy. Don’t be fooled. Just because someone presents something new and exciting doesn’t mean its valid. Some of the most destructive philosophies ever created were adopted by well meaning intelligent people just because of the smooth, friendly way they were presented.

Make SURE the principles you are operating your life on are solid, true and trustworthy.

Stay Alert and Beware of the Concealed Lie

This deceitful technique is very effective in fooling many and that’s why its so popular in advertising. Unethical advertisers know it works and that is why they love to use it as well. It's not that people are stupid but that they weren’t paying attention and allowed themselves to be duped.

Remember that …just because someone seems so agreeable and pleasant, it doesn’t mean everything they are telling you is true.

This is not being paranoid, its being WISE.
