The Righteous Profit, The Wicked Perish

Psalms is the longest book in the Bible and it starts off with a powerful message contrasting the Righteous and the Wicked.

It makes very clear how God evaluates human beings. It takes all the mystery out of how you are to behave and who you are to associate with if you want to live a profitable life.

"How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:1-6 NASB

If you want “blessings” in your life you can’t follow people who live for themselves and who have no concern for living in alignment with the Word of God. We are very fortunate to have the word of God available to us. This is unique in History and we have no excuse for ignorance. We are to pay attention to it because it was written for our benefit. But not everybody feels that way. They have no respect for the Bible. They have their own ideas. Their arrogance and totally self-centered attitude shows up in their actions and they never last.

“The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish."

The Righteous pay attention to God’s word and prosper. The Wicked follow their own ideas, ignoring the Bible, and perish. There is no mystery about it. Its clearly stated….for those who’ll take the time to read.
The Bible makes it very clear that God loves us. He wants the best for us. He provides guidance and support for us. But if you turn your back on him, ignoring his help, then you are on your own. That’s the terrible thing about having the freedom to choose. If you choose to go your own way, then you have to deal with the consequences. You may not believe it now but one day you’ll know that those consequences are not going to be good. So think clearly and choose well.

If you want a profitable life, pay attention to the Word of God.
