Three Ways to Focus

There were 3 people who needed to cross a field as fast as possible.
They lined up on the fence line on one side of the field and decided to make a contest out of it. They all had a different idea of what plan would get them over to the other side in the straightest line possible and as a result get there quickest.
The one on the left said, “What I’m going to do is to look at my feet and never look up. I don’t want to get distracted. I’m going to focus on my shoes and put one shoe exactly straight in front of the other then put the other in front of it exactly straight in front of it and keep doing that until I get to the other side. That’s my plan!"
The one on the right said, "That sounds good but what I’m going to do is lock my eyes on a post exactly on the other side of the field and just keep walking towards it until I get there."
The one on the middle said, "I like both of your ideas. You both seem to have a great plan but since I need an advantage what I’m going to do is to keep exactly in the middle of you both as you cross the field and I think that will give me the best of both plans."
Which one do you think made it to the other side in the straightest line?
The one on the right. Why? He had his eyes on his target and went straight to it. Think about this next time you are going for something and want to get there as fast as possible.
