Ever get a cold? You know you are supposed to take in a lot of liquids—but you are sooo tired of chicken soup...
Well, this is your lucky day! Here is a delicious soup that will get you back on top again or give you protection if you are trying to avoid picking up an infection. This special soup is from a recipe by Dr. Krakovitz of Aspen, Colorado.
Since I don’t cook I would have never found out how great this is if my only option was to make it myself. However, fortunately there was another option and if you are in Aspen, you can take advantage of it too. Just go by the Explore Booksellers and Bistro on Main Street, they make it every day. Ask them to put in extra garlic and enjoy!
Here is the recipe: Make this broth and have at least 1 to 2 quarts of it daily while you are sick or attempting to avoid illness.
In 1 quart of water add:
- 7 to 10 cloves of garlic (peeled and cut in half)
- 1/8 tsp ground cayenne
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp of olive oil
Bring to boil, simmer with lid on for 10 minutes, remove from heat. Add 10 thin slices of fresh ginger root, return lid and let sit for 5-10 minutes, strain and drink in one or two sittings.
Recommended: You may mix 1/2 and 1/2 with tomato soup, made separately, to serve. Also If you are looking for a cold packet, you may want to try these—very effective. PROBOOST™ THYMIC PROTEIN A One note: take them immediately at the first sign or indication of a cold coming on—don’t wait, minutes count.
That’s the end of the Public Health portion of the program. Be healthy.
Feedback: If you have some ideas, soups or other cold remedies you would like to share with the class, please let us know in the comment section.
